Hi, I’m Eric!
I’m a Southern California native who somehow found my way to the Midwest and stayed. My path to therapy began in refugee resettlement, where I worked to help people rebuild their lives. But over time, I learned that I didn’t want to simply "help" people. I wanted to sit with people in their full humanity. Therapy became that space for me: a place where I could be present, tender, and curious with others.
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll find me on playdates with my nieces and nephews, cheering on the KC Current, or embracing my love of climbing, poetry, and reading. Whether on the wall, the page, or with my clients, I seek connection in the body, the mind, and the shared experience of being human.

my practice

Therapy is and should be inherently political. We can’t separate mental health from the systems we live in. When systemic forces shape our pain, we need to name them. Doing so allows us to place responsibility where it belongs and helps us move toward meaningful change.
-
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic alliance: the connection between us. I believe healing happens in relationship. Together, we’ll build a safe and authentic space where you can be fully yourself. From that foundation, my hope is that you’ll gain the courage to take the risk of being fully seen in the relationships and spaces that matter most to you.
I take an integrative, experiential approach to therapy, tailoring our work to your needs. You can expect belly laughs, meaningful healing, and the freedom to show up exactly as you are. We’ll slow down, tune into your body, and listen to what your feelings are trying to tell you. Rather than simply reducing symptoms, we’ll get curious about them, seeing them as messengers, not problems to erase.

I believe therapeutic change happens when we no longer resist and suppress our “difficult emotions”, and instead embrace them with tenderness. My approach to therapeutic change is informed by my trainings in Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and Positive psychology.

Your free 15 minute phone consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you have. There’s no pressure—just a space to explore what feels important to you.
-
There is no “right" time to start therapy. There is only your choice. However, I do hear from my clients that they always wish they started earlier. Research shows “early intervention” can lead to better therapeutic outcomes. If you're unsure, a phone consultation can help determine if it's a good fit for you.

Yes. I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, and Medicaid. I also accept private payments at $120 per session. If you are out-of-network, I can provide a superbill which can be submitted to your insurance. Depending on your plan, you can be reimbursed and/or the cost can go towards your deductible. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots based on financial need. If you have questions about payment options, feel free to reach out.

Yes. Everything we discuss in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as concerns about safety). We can go over confidentiality in more detail during our phone consultation or first session.
